Owneh – An initiative of 30 Palestinian civil society organizations
In the aftermath of October 7, 2023, the subsequent accelerated Israeli genocide on Gaza, and a new wave of unjust and politically weaponized conditions imposed by donors, The Owneh Initiative seeks to break away from the colonial funding system and gain independence of Palestinian civil society organizations from outside interference.
The Owneh Initiative has several initiatives underway. AID WATCH, launching soon, is a Palestinian platform for exposing discriminatory and politicized donor interventions that undermine the Palestinian liberation cause. The Owneh Initiative’s SOLIDARITY FUND mobilizes financial resources to support Palestinian organizations in their rejection of complicit and undermining funding, and the RESOURCES BASKET facilitates the sharing of available non-financial community resources.
The Owneh Initiative Principles
+ we reject global funding systems built on historical exploitation that have prolonged the occupation in Palestine
+ we refuse funding that promotes fragmentation, including geographic restrictions and operational limitations
+ we are committed to strengthen Palestinian resources, volunteerism, and solidarity
+ we refuse any kind of politically conditional funding
